I'll always be with you

Chapter 1

Hi, my name is Alex, I'm sixteen years old. I've just finished the Ranger School in Almia.

Before that, I started Pokemon training when I was nine, almost ten. Maybe I was a little young, but I was allowed to choose a Pokemon. Back then I lived in Johto, so I was able to choose from Cikorita, Cyndaquil or Totodile.

They all were cute and friendly, but somehow the Chikorita looked the most kind. He looked at me with his cute red eyes, and for some reason I thought we would be friends forever. So I picked the Chikorita and nicknamed him Spirit.

I beat the gym leaders in Jotho, went to Kanto, beat the leaders there, to Hoenn and I beat the leaders there, and so on. I had captured a lot of Pokemon, trying to complete my Pokedex. I always welcomed new Pokemon into my team.

That's when I heard of Red, a Pokemon Trainer. I wanted to battle him. And I even won from him. For that hard work, I got two other starter Pokemon. One from Kanto, given by Professor Oak. And the other one from Steven, waiting in Silph Co.

From Professor Oak I got Squirtle, and from Steven I got Torchic. You can't imagine how happy I was. I nicknamed the Squirtle River and the Torchic Blaze. I also went to Sinnoh, and I caught a lot of Pokemon over there too.

Eventually I went to the last region: Unova. That all happened in about two years and a few months. My Pokemon and I grew stronger and stronger, and we took it up to every League.

I batteled with the eventual team I had: Spirit the Chikorita, Blaze the Blaziken, River the Blastoise, Sky the Pidgeot, Snowy the Furret and Green the Flygon.

Finally, we won the Unova League.

After that, I stopped Pokemon Training and started thinking about what I could do after that. Pokemon training was fun, but all Pokemon I had were close to the highest levels. it also didn't get boring, but it was time for something else. I wanted to do something with Pokemon, that for sure.

I remembered something: when I went to Kanto for a while, I saw a person using something to capture a Pokemon that I had never seen before. It was a Capture Styler. He told me he was a Pokemon Ranger, and his job was to protect people, Pokemon and nature.

I think I kept that in my head for moments like this: I wanted to become a Pokemon Ranger.

So, we moved to Almia. I went to the Ranger school. I was twelve years old by then. That's where I met my best friend, Ben. He's my partner.

Suddenly, I got called up by Professor Hastings, the Union's chief of technology. He had a Mission for me. And according to him, I could handle it perfectly by myself, being a Top Ranger.

No help needed, I'm already sixteen...

It wasn't Alex's first flight on a Staraptor that made it exiting, but it was that she was going on the very first Mission that she just received: protect the Oblivia region from a group called the Pokemon Pinchers.

Her Partner Pokemon Spirit was safe in her Styler. She smiled; she loved flying. She could fly for ever. The Staraptor Alex flew on flew into a white cloud.

Alex thought of all what happened in the past four years: She first was a Student, then she became a real Ranger, and now she was a Top Ranger. It all happened so fast.

She met a boy named Ben, who was very kind, but also very childish. He could make jokes, but also tend to not take his job seriously. For some reason, Ben always tried to work together with Alex, and she always accepted it.

A small ray of light brought Alex from her thoughts. She smiled, she could see over the clouds by now. It was a little chilly in Oblivia's skies. Alex was pursuing two Pokemon Pinchers on their flying scooter-like vehicles.

They were chasing Latias. Alex was on a little distance, and she easily caught up with the two mysterious men in green.

"Hey, Pinchers!" Alex yelled to them. "Pick on someone of your own size!" The Pinchers turned around. "Huh... red goggles, yellow scarf..." the one mumbled. "You must be... a, a Pokemon Ranger!" the other one exclaimed.

"But how did she get here..." the first one thought out loud. He didn't seem to smart to Alex. "I was kidnapped by some aliens, put on a Staraptor, and it flew me right here." She said sarcastically.

"Is that a good enough reason?" Alex winked at Latias as sign that she could get away now, and that is exactly what the Pokemon did.

"Now, get one of your own size, instead of Latias, who is escaping right now." She finished. One of the Pinchers turned around to see if that was true, and sure enough, it was.

"Crap!" he yelled. "Latias escaped!" While that Pincher was looking at Latias leaving, the one that was keeping an eye on Alex said: "You know, I think that's a pretty good idea... Maybe we should get one of our own size, don't you think, buddy?"

"Hey... Maybe that is a good idea..." the other one grinned while he turned around. "Maybe we should pick on... oh, I don't know... you?!"

Alex started to get a little scared; two men, looking like they're going to attack you or something like that... "Get ready for our Plasma Cannons!"

'What in the world is a Plasma Can-' but she couldn't think any further, because she saw green and pink energy bulbs coming out of the vehicles of the Pinchers. Alex managed to dodge the Pinchers attacks.

The Pinchers were about to send in another attack, but then she heard something that changed the whole scene. "Are you sure about that?!" a very familiar voice yelled to the Pinchers. The expression on Alex's face when she saw her partner flying next to her was indescribable.

"B-Ben?" she said, totally not expecting him. "Alex, are you ok?" Ben asked, a little worried. He felt real relieved for some strange reason... He blushed slightly. "From a distance, I could see that you were being put under fire or something..." He continued.

"Yeah..." Alex mumbled. "Anyway, what are you doing here?" "I came to give you this. It's a beacon tracking homing device." Ben explained. "I am supposed to give it to you because Hastings forgot to give that to you. I was sent after you, also to help you." "But I thought I was allo-"

"Hey!" One of the Pinchers yelled to Ben and Alex while interrupting her. "Sorry to interrupt you, but we're still here!" "M-maybe we should get away..." The other one mumbled quietly.

It still was loud enough for Ben and Alex to hear it. "I mean... We're only with the two of us-"

"Not any more." A man appeared from the clouds, making everyone dodge to not bump into him. He probably belonged to the Pinchers, but he was a little different. He had red clothes, was flying on a red scooter vehicle, he had blond hair, but a part of it has been dyed red. The most weird thing about him were his red eyes...

"Our dear leader!" One of the Pinchers said, "They're Pokemon Rangers!" The red man clearly was their leader. "I can see that." the leader said, arrogantly striking his red hair out of his face.

"Two aerial Ranger brats putting on airs with their bright red goggles and yellow scarves, what a joke!" Now Ben got real mad: "So we're the joke, huh?! You're the leader of a team that can't even handle a couple of 'brats'!!"

Alex gave Ben her famous mad look: he was just making everything worse...

"You there..." the leader said calmly, a little too calmly... "Do you know the consequences for mouthing off like that? The perfect thing for you..." The leader said with a mean grin on his face. "Skydiving, but no parachute!"

The leader pressed a butten, and Ben looked puzzled for a moment. But even when he saw the energy bulbs that where familiar to Alex, he still wasn't getting it completely. Alex did. She knew what those bulbs were.

The next thing she did was both incredibly brave, but also incredibly stupid:

She jumped right in front of Ben.

Ben opened his eyes. "What?" he said confused after not being hit by the energy bulbs. "What the heck happened?" Then he noticed the Pinchers and their leader where still there.

"Sacrificing themselves to save another. How bold." the leader said, being impressed, and amused. "You should at least thank your partner for saving you."

Ben started to get an unpleasant feeling in his stomach. 'No...' he thought, 'Alex isn't...' The leader carried on: "Because now she's falling into the ocean instead of you!" Ben's eyes opened wide.

"What?!" He almost yelled, while looking around for any sign of Alex. But the only thing he saw was sea, sky and the Staraptor Alex flew on. It flew away. "She saved me, and now she's falling into the ocean?!"

The leader smiled. "Well now... you seem to be lucky. Maybe we should make you into our lucky charm..."

Still no sign of Alex...

"W-What are you doing?!" Ben yelled when the two Pinchers came to him and grabbed Ben by his arms. "We'll take you as our hostage." The leader said.

'Alex..' Ben thought as the Pinchers put him on a scooter vehicle, 'I hope she's fine... But I can't do anything...' He made fists of his tied up hands.

They flew away, to somewhere in Oblivia...
